It’s Thursday night, so tell me what's good in your life right now. For me, I'm doing pretty great, really enjoying photography again, had two random people compliment me today, and my girlfriend says my manual driving skills are much improved. So what's good in everyone's life right now?

My loaner got bumped to a Tiguan, and I leave for Daytona in two weeks... I also put in my buyback request, and threw the dealer under three buses to VW corporate, citing the dealers fuck ups as the reason behind the buyback request. That felt nice.

Hmm. Life isn’t bad, so that’s good.

Still enjoying the lights on the ST a lot.  They look great, even when turned off.  Long term, I am looking forward to the Oppo drive in May and pre-driving the route before that.

As of this week it’s been a year at the new job, and in 27 years of working this is the happiest I’ve been at a job. I had a car accident last year that not only left me completely uninjured, it wiped out almost half of my debt. My partner who had been profoundly unhappy at his job for the last five years finally was able to escape a few months ago and is way happier now. Things are on the upswing and it feels good.

Treking to Canada this weekend for a bit of Karting with friends and then the first Ice Time Trial of the year is scheduled for next Saturday. I’m sorted out for work post graduation so now I can start seriously planning a BRZ purchase.

If it went through, what’s the plan? Another GTI?

Well that’s escalating at a reasonable rate. I’m assuming you would be planing on buying a different GTI from a different dealer if your buyback goes through?

Celebrating almost a year with the second FoST. Other than that, after being graduated and in my full time job life for almost 2 years, it  has finally seemed to slow down and be “normal” so that’s nice.

Due to state law, it likely would be. If not, probably something significantly cheaper. I kind of want shitbox mod money.

Well, my car is working mostly right, I’m back to talking with an old friend I had a major falling out with, and I’m experiencing the best physical health I have in the past four ish years. I’ve got a job when I graduate, too, which is a huge increase for my confidence and confirms that I’m not a complete fuckup.

I would assume VW would just provide another, as for the dealer, the sales department is fantastic actually. I would just try to make sure VW can guarantee me a loaner from another dealer if the worst occurs.

I like the 4Runner, and managed to fit a 79” shelf inside the vehicle today, with my wife in the passenger seat, so no cheating laying it on top of the passenger seat either. I was pretty impressed by that. Part of me was a little bummed that I didn’t have to have it sticking out the rear window.

I’m working on planning our family summer vacation, so that’s always fun.

It’s weird all of a sudden having a “normal” life. I went from living at home with my mum and working part time to living with my girlfriend (well, half the time) and having a stable job, and the change is good.

Positivity? Let’s see. My son just scored in the 90th percentile on the PSAT as a freshman . My performance over the last year was key to us winning a 6-year, $75M contract, so I have some peace of mind until this contract runs out . My father-in-law survived a heart issue and is now getting a pacemaker to keep his ticker ticking properly. And finally, if the weather holds, I should solo this weekend!

My wife is feeling pretty great after 6 months of health challenges that started with 3 weeks in the hospital. Doc seems pretty sure that all of that is behind us.

My son, who is struggling with his first year of middle school, got all As. He also getting into classic rock due to guitar lessons. We listened to My Woman from Tokyo on the way home the other day.

I work for a company that is doing things that have never done in our industry before. I spent 15 minutes talking with our COO about all that and cars this morning.

I just had an amazing set of responses on a question I asked here on Oppo. I have a decent job, and my manager is trying to get me a decent raise. Our 10 day old daughter is growing like a weed, and our four year old and two year old girls are physically healthy.  We've been spoiled rotten with people bringing over food after we had the baby.

Yeah, I guess I didn't make a post about it. Mom and baby are doing well.  Original due date came and went. She ended up being something like 5 days late before it got the better of us and she was induced. Had a bit of a small scare with the epidural, but it ended reasonably well.

I’m glad your wife is feeling better, we have been struggling with the 12 YO boy in 7th grade. He swings from don’t give a shit to giving a shit on a daily basis. I sent him to bed tonight because he spent 40 minutes and only got two fairly simple math problems done. It frustrates me because I’m an engineer and math is my language.

About your employer, stuff that $25/flight to reserve a seat thing, that’s dumb. I love the cookies tho , 10/10 better than the snack mix.

Our 18 month old boy has been sleeping through the night since 8 weeks, is healthy, happy, and *this* close to speaking. He will visit his 95 year old great grandmother again soon, and I can’t wait. (He looks just like the b&w infant pictures of my late grandfather.)

My wife is incredibly supportive in all I do, or need to do, or want to do.

Work is... mostly not appropriate for this thread... but I’m well paid, have a nice company car and am starting to get back into deep technical things, which is where I shine and feel more comfortable.

I like / needed to read this thread. Thanks.

I have a solid reason and the budget to buy a car in a couple of months (assuming the government shutdown ends soon).

I’ve been enjoying my work for the past couple of months, and that should continue for at least the next few months. Plus I get paid pretty well.

My son does that too. It breaks my brain watching him do homework. It’s like, “ if you put your head down and do this work you could be playing Xbox in 20 minutes!” Two hours later....

I do think they are getting up with too much homework. I’d dont remember having homework in middle school except projects.

Didn’t realize we were doing that with the seat selection. Kind of weird. I’m not a fan of the cookies, but there is a story behind that.
